Dittya Women Farmer Producer Companylimited

We operate out of Kashti in the Shrigonda area, right at house number 1870. It is a place where a lot of us women from the village get together to figure out the business of our farms. We call it Dittya Women Farmer Producer Companylimited. Usually, you will find us sitting around the courtyard or in the main room sorting out paperwork or talking about the upcoming harvest. We started this because we realized that as women, we were doing a lot of the heavy lifting in the fields but didn't have much say in how things were sold. Now, we handle our own affairs. It’s not a fancy setup with computers and air conditioning. It’s just a home where we can speak our minds and plan for the next season. Ahmadnagar weather keeps us on our toes, and there is always something to worry about, whether it is too much rain or not enough. We help each other with the planting and we share what we know about keeping the plants healthy. It feels good to have a place of our own where we can work together instead of everyone just struggling on their own. We aren't trying to be anything other than what we are—local women who know the land and want to keep our families going. It’s hard work, but we are used to that. We just take it one day at a time.
