I open the heavy metal shutters every morning at 13 Devlink Society here in Vadgon Chinchwad. It’s usually a bit quiet until the sun gets higher. Dinesh Crokery & Gift House is not a big place, but we have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. Most days, I spend time dusting the glass plates and tea sets because the road outside brings in a lot of dirt. We have been here for a good number of years now. People in the society know us well. They come in when they need a quick gift for a birthday or a new set of bowls for their kitchen. I like to keep things simple. Sometimes the boxes are stacked a bit high in the corner, and it can be hard to move around, but that is just how it is when you have so much stock. I try to remember where everything is kept. The light in the back of the shop flickers a little, I need to get that fixed soon. It’s just a regular local shop where we know most of our customers by their names. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Just honest items sitting on the shelves waiting for someone to take them home. If you walk past Devlink, you will see me sitting there near the entrance, probably reading the paper or tidying up a shelf. It’s a long day, but it’s our life here. We usually close around nine in the night when the street goes quiet.
