Dhandaini Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group, Dhandaini Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited, is located right at House Number 76 in Kusumbe Bk. It is mostly the women from the village who started this because we wanted to have more say in how our crops are sold. Usually, the men handle the market stuff, but we realized we could do a decent job ourselves if we worked together. We aren't some professional organization with suits; we are just mothers and sisters who know how to farm. We spend a lot of time in the fields and then meet up at the house to talk about the accounts. It gets loud and busy sometimes, especially when the harvest is ready and everyone is trying to get their bags weighed. We deal with whatever the weather throws at us, whether it's too much rain or a long dry spell. The house is always full of grain sacks and the smell of the earth. We use simple tools and mostly rely on what we have learned from our parents. It isn't easy balancing the house work and the farm work, but having this company gives us a bit of pride. We just want to make sure our families are fed and the local soil stays good for the next generation. We take things one day at a time, fixing problems as they pop up and hoping for a decent harvest every year. It’s a lot of effort, but we stay together through it all.
