Deepratna Mahila Farmer Producer Companylimited is based in Amala, Yavatmal. We work from Mrs. Shilpa Satpute’s place in the Tiwari area. It’s a rural spot where farming is the main thing everyone does. A group of us women started this to help each other out with our crops. Yavatmal can be quite dry, so farming is always a bit of a gamble here. We aren't some big city firm. We are just local ladies trying to get better prices for what we grow. Our office is basically just a corner in a home. We spend a lot of time talking about seeds and how to deal with the pests. It’s hard work and there’s always something to fix. Being in the 445203 pin code means we are a bit far from the main markets. We have to coordinate everything carefully so we don’t lose money. It's a practical way to handle the farm business. No one here is an expert in marketing, we just know what grows in our soil. We talk to the other farmers in Tiwari and try to stay organized. It gets busy during the harvest season. We just do our best to keep the records straight and help the members. It's a local effort, nothing more, nothing less. Just people working together in Amala. We don't mind the long hours as long as we can see some progress for our families. It's just about sticking together and making things work out day after day.
