Deepak Varieties

Our shop is located right opposite the Kalewadi bus stop. It’s in the Kamathipura area of Kalewadi. Being across from the bus stop means we see a lot of people moving around all day. We sell all kinds of variety items, mostly things people realize they need while they are waiting for their bus. We have small snacks, some household plastics, and basic toiletries. It’s not a fancy place at all. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to deal with that right now. We have crates stacked up near the entrance because the delivery truck comes by early. I usually sit near the door so I can see everyone coming in. It gets pretty hot in the afternoon when the sun hits the front of the shop. We have a small radio that plays the news while we work. It’s a straightforward business. We don't have any big slogans or anything. We just sell stuff. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions or the bus schedule, and that’s fine too. We know most of the bus drivers who stop outside. It’s a busy life but we like being in the middle of everything in Kalewadi. The shop stays open late because the buses run late, and there’s always someone looking for a last-minute item before they head home.
