Chitrali Beauty Parlour

Ganesh Peth is always crowded, and our little place is tucked right into the mix of it near Shivramdada Talim. Most days, you can hear the sounds from the talim while we are inside working. It’s a small parlour, nothing like those big chains you see in the malls. We have a few chairs, some mirrors that have seen better days, and the usual shelves full of creams and hair clips. Usually, the morning starts with sweeping the floor and getting the water heater going. It gets quite lively in the afternoons when the local ladies from the neighborhood drop in to catch up on news while getting their eyebrows done. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and we have to sit by the door for some light, but everyone around here is used to that. We don't really do much in the way of advertising because people just know we are here at number 53. It feels more like a living room sometimes than a business. There is always a smell of rose water and hairspray in the air. The space is a bit tight when there are three or four people waiting, but we manage by pulling in some extra stools. It is just a simple shop run by regular people who have been in Ganesh Peth for years. We know most of the faces that walk through the door.
