Our school sits right along the Mumbai Pune Highway in Chinchwad. Being near Chinchwad Station means there is always a hum of activity, from the trains passing by to the heavy trucks on the highway. We operate out of the IIBM Institute building, and it’s a bit of a landmark for those who travel this route daily. The weather in Pune is usually nice, but when the monsoon hits, the sound of the rain on the roof is all you can hear. We’re not a huge, sprawling campus, but we make use of every bit of space we have. Teachers here often come in early to prep before the highway traffic gets too congested. We don’t have fancy uniforms for the staff; we just dress practically for a day spent on our feet. The students come from all the surrounding suburbs, and seeing them arrive every morning is the best part of the job. We have a small office where we handle the admissions and the daily paperwork, and it’s usually piled high with files. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but we know where everything is. We focus on the basics here. If a student is struggling, we just sit down and talk to them. It’s a straightforward way of doing things, and it seems to work for the families who come to us in Chinchwad. We spend our evenings closing up the rooms and getting ready to do it all again the next morning.
