Siddharth Mechanical Works

Siddharth Mechanical Works sits over at W- 215 in the Century Enka MIDC area of Bhosari. This part of Pune is always loud with the sound of machines and trucks moving in and out of the industrial zone. Our workshop isn't much to look at from the outside, but it gets the job done. We spend the day dealing with heavy metal parts and various mechanical tools. The air in Bhosari usually smells like oil and burnt metal, which is just part of the life here. We’ve been in this spot for a long time now. The floor is usually a bit dusty and there are always scraps of iron or steel lying near the lathes. It’s a place where hands get dirty fast. We don’t have air conditioning or fancy chairs, just stools and workbenches that have seen a lot of use over the years. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes in the MIDC, we just take a break and sit outside the shutters. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops doing similar things, so everyone knows each other. It's hard work, especially in the summer when the tin roof makes things hot, but we like the routine. We just focus on the drawings and the metal in front of us until the sun goes down and it's time to lock up the gate for the night. There is always something to weld or grind here.
