Bhavishya Manthan

Shaniwar Peth has a lot of history, and being on Dattapara Road feels like being in the heart of the old city. Bhavishya Manthan is located at number 186, near the Wire Division. It’s an area that’s always buzzing with people doing their daily chores. The space we have isn't very modern. It has high ceilings and those old-style windows that let in a lot of air but also a lot of noise. I like the noise, though; it reminds me that life is moving. I spend most of my day at a big heavy desk that belonged to my grandfather. It’s got a lot of scratches on it, but it’s sturdy. People come in with all sorts of stories. Some are worried about work, others about their kids. I just sit with them and we look at the details. The name Bhavishya Manthan means we really dig into things, trying to churn out some clarity. It’s not a fast process. You can’t rush this kind of thing. I usually keep a pot of water and some glasses on a side table for whoever comes in. The curtains are a dark blue to keep the glare off my papers. Sometimes, late in the evening, it gets really peaceful here. I stay late quite often because the work is interesting. It’s just a small local place where we try to make sense of things. The local stray cat often sleeps on the doorstep. It’s home.
