Ashwarya Novelties

Our little shop, Ashwarya Novelties, is actually located inside Sony Electronics on LBS Road in Bhandup West. It’s right in the Khadki area. It might seem a bit odd to have a novelty shop inside an electronics store, but it’s worked out well for us over the years. We have a small section where we keep all sorts of things like gifts, small household items, and those little bits and pieces you never know you need until you see them. I spend a lot of my time just keeping the shelves in order because people like to pick things up and look at them. LBS Road is always packed with traffic and people, so there’s never a quiet moment outside our door. I grew up not too far from here, and Bhandup has changed so much, with new buildings coming up everywhere. We aren't trying to be some big department store. We’re just a local business where you can find something nice for a birthday or a small treat for yourself. Sometimes the shop gets a bit cramped when we get a new shipment in, and we have to move boxes around just to make space for people to walk. I like the chaos of it, though. It feels like a real neighborhood spot. Most of the people who come in are regulars who live just a few blocks away. We don't do any fancy marketing; people just see our sign and walk in.
