Amika Traders

Amika Traders is over on Sg Road in Ghorpadi. The area is always busy with people moving around and trucks dropping things off. We have a lot of stuff piled up in the back that needs moving. The floors are concrete and they get dusty pretty fast. Most of our day is spent checking the inventory or talking to people who stop in. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop but people find us. The lights in the back are a bit dim so we use a torch sometimes. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a couple of desks and a lot of paperwork. Sg Road has changed quite a bit over the years since we first started. Sometimes the noise from the traffic makes it hard to hear the phone ringing. We usually have a small radio playing in the corner to break the silence. The neighbors are nice and we often chat over the fence or in the lane. We don't do much advertising, just word of mouth mostly. Keeping the shelves organized is a never-ending task. We find things we forgot we had sometimes. It’s just the way things are here. We show up, open the shutters, and get to work. It's a regular life for us and we've gotten used to the pace of Ghorpadi. We keep a notebook for orders and a heavy pen that never runs out. It's not glamorous but it works.
