Ambelohal Farmer Producer Company Limited is run by a group of us from around Gangapur and Ranjangaon. You can find us at Laxman Jadhav’s house, number 131. It’s a regular home where we keep our records and meet up after the day’s work is finished. Farming in this part of the country takes a lot out of you. Between the heat and the fluctuating market, it’s a constant struggle. We started this company because we realized that we’re stronger when we work together. Laxman has been around a long time and knows most of the families here. We talk about everything from the price of diesel to the new ways people are planting seeds. It’s not a formal thing with suits and ties. Usually, we’re in our work clothes, still dusty from the fields. We want to make sure that the people growing the food actually get to keep some of the profit. It’s about being practical. We buy what we need in bulk to save a few rupees and try to find better places to sell our produce. It’s slow going sometimes, and we don't always agree on the best path forward, but we’re all neighbors. That’s what matters most in a place like this. We just keep working the land and hoping for a good rain.
