Amax Battery

If you walk into 455 Nana Peth, you’ll immediately notice the smell of lead and plastic. That is just how it is at Amax Battery. We have been working out of this spot for a while now, and the shelves are mostly filled with heavy black boxes for cars and bikes. It’s a physical job, moving these things around all day. My back usually aches by five o'clock, but that is part of the work. Nana Peth is a crowded area, so there is always noise from the street coming inside. We spend a lot of time testing old batteries to see if they can hold a charge or if they are just completely dead. Sometimes people come in quite frustrated because their car wouldn't start in the morning, and we just try to get them sorted out quickly. There’s a small workbench in the back where we do the charging and check the acid levels. It’s not a fancy place, and there’s usually some grease on the floor, but it’s where we do our daily work. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us handling the heavy lifting and talking to the drivers who stop by. The shop sign is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone around here knows where 455 is. We keep the doors open even when it’s dusty outside because the ventilation helps. It’s a simple life, just batteries and local talk.
