Our place is in Alephata, which is part of the Junnar taluka in the Pune district. Specifically, we are at house number 1820. The name on the gate is Alephata Farmers Agro Producer Company Limited. We are just a bunch of local farmers who thought it was a good idea to join up a few years back. Farming in Pune can be very competitive, so being a producer company helps us stay in the game and keep our heads above water. We do not have a polished marketing team or anything like that. Most of us are more comfortable on a tractor than sitting in an office chair. Alephata is a busy spot, and we fit right in with the rest of the town. We deal with all sorts of agricultural products that grow well in this specific climate. Junnar has its own challenges with the hills and the changing weather, but we have lived here all our lives. We know the soil very well. The "Agro" part of our name just means we are serious about the science of it, but we are still just regular people. We meet at the Alephata office to discuss market prices and seeds. It is a straightforward operation. No mission statements or long-term visions, just making sure the current crop is healthy and the next one is planned out. We are just neighbors working together to make farm life more stable.
