Agromilets Women Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in a place called Kusumbi in the Satara district. We are located at Jagannath B Chikane’s place. It is a group of women who decided to get serious about our farming. We focus on millets and other local crops that grow well in this part of Maharashtra. Jawali is a beautiful area, but farming here takes a lot of effort and patience. We started this company to give us a bit more control over our produce. Usually, women do a lot of the work but do not always get to make the decisions, so we changed that. We meet in Kusumbi to talk about the planting cycles and how the soil is doing. It is a very hands-on job. We do not have any slick marketing or a big office building. It is just us in our regular clothes, talking about the weather and the harvest. Some days are harder than others, especially when the rain does not come when it is supposed to. But we stick together and help each other out. We are just trying to make sure our crops are good and that we can support our homes. It is a simple, honest way to live. We put in the hours out in the fields and then we come together to handle the business side of things. It is a lot to manage, but it feels good to be in charge of our own work.
