Agrocon Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at Madhavrao Wadkar’s house, number 1249/1, over in Almala in the Ausa area. We are a collection of farmers from around Latur who decided that we should probably start working together instead of competing with each other all the time. Farming in this part of the country has its own set of problems, from the heat to the prices that never seem to stay still. We use our company to buy things in bulk so it’s cheaper for everyone and to try and find buyers who will treat us fairly. We aren't business experts with degrees; we are people who know how to plow a field and when to sow the seeds. The house in Almala serves as our base where we keep our documents and have our meetings. Usually, there’s a lot of tea and a lot of talk about the upcoming monsoon or the price of diesel. We try to keep things simple because we have enough work to do in the fields as it is. We aren't looking to become a giant corporation, we just want to make sure the people in Ausa can keep farming without losing money every year. It’s a hard life, but we like it, and being together makes the hard parts a bit more manageable. Most of us have known each other since we were kids anyway.
