Our place, Shahnaz Herbal Salon, also known as Pragati Bridal Studio, is up on the 1st Floor of Vinayak Tower. We are right on M G Marg in the Civil Lines area of Allahabad. If you find the Axis Bank, we are directly above it. Being on the first floor means we get a good view of the traffic on M G Marg, which is always moving. The 211001 zip code is a busy center for the city. Inside the studio, it’s a bit quieter than the street below. We have different sections for the herbal treatments and the bridal work. The air always smells like jasmine or some kind of dried herbs because that’s what we use. It’s not a corporate-looking place; the furniture is a bit mixed and we have boxes of supplies stacked in the corners sometimes. We spend a lot of time preparing for weddings, which can get pretty chaotic. There are mirrors everywhere and a lot of bright lights so we can see what we are doing. The stairs up to the shop are a bit steep, so people usually arrive a little out of breath. We’ve got a small area where people can sit and wait, and there’s usually a pot of tea on the go in the back room. We also have a few old photo albums showing the work we've done over the years. It’s a busy life above the bank, especially during the wedding season when we are here working late.
