Manish Rice Mill

Manish Rice Mill is situated near the Shani Mandir in the main market area of Allenganj. We are close to the post office too, so there are always people walking by on their daily errands. The mill is a straightforward place where we focus on the task at hand. It is not a modern office building with air conditioning. Instead, we have high ceilings and big fans to keep the air moving while the machines are running. The sound of the mill is quite loud, but we have lived with it for so long that it just feels like silence to us. We handle the rice that comes in from the local distributors and farmers. The workspace is cluttered with tools, spare parts, and stacks of empty gunny bags waiting to be filled. Our routine doesn't change much from year to year. We open up early, check the equipment, and start the processing. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to chat for a minute while they are at the market. It is a friendly atmosphere, even with all the hard work involved. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that we have been here a long time and people know where to find us. By the time evening rolls around, we shut down the machines and lock up the gates, ready to do it all again tomorrow.
