Kanchan Marble

You can find Kanchan Marble over in Old Katra, specifically in the Swaraj Park area near Swaraj Bhavan. It’s a bit of an older part of the district, but it’s where we’ve set up shop. We deal in different types of marble. Our place is close to the Museum, so we get a fair amount of foot traffic, though most people are just passing through to see the sights. The ones who stop in are usually looking for something specific for a floor or a kitchen. We keep the slabs out where people can see them. The yard can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of inventory coming in. We don't really do fancy advertising or anything like that. Most of our customers heard about us from a neighbor or saw our sign while they were walking in the park. Working with marble is heavy business. We spend a lot of time moving things around with the crane or by hand if it's a smaller piece. The weather affects how much we get done, especially when it's pouring rain and we can't really work outside in the yard. Old Katra is a busy place, and being near Swaraj Bhavan means there's always something happening nearby. We just keep to ourselves mostly, focusing on the stone and making sure the cuts are straight. It's been our way of life for quite a while now and we're used to the noise and dust.
