Aliya Hair Cutting Saloon

Aliya Hair Cutting Saloon is located in Bairhana, right near the Yamuna New Bridge in Allahabad. Being near the Bairhana crossing means there is always a lot of movement and the sound of horns from the trucks and rickshaws going towards the bridge. The bridge is a major landmark for everyone in this part of town, so people never have trouble finding our shop. The place itself is quite modest. We have the usual tall mirrors and those classic barber chairs that can tilt back. I’ve been working here for many years, and I’ve seen the bridge being built and the whole area changing so much. The shop is a bit small, and the floor is just plain cement. We keep it as clean as possible, but with the dust from the road, it’s a never-ending job. We have a small television in the corner that usually plays the news or some old movies. It keeps the customers entertained while they wait their turn. Most of the people who come in are regulars from the nearby colonies. We know who likes a close shave and who just wants a light trim. We don't have any fancy booking system or phone apps; people just walk in and wait their turn on the wooden bench. It’s a honest way to earn a living for us. Sometimes in the evening, we stand outside and watch the sunset over the bridge before we finally close for the night.
