Sakti General Store

Sakti General Store is located at Shop No-20 in the Sher Shah Market area. We are over in Marchatta, which is right by the Satdhara Masjid. It’s a very old part of town and the streets around here are quite narrow and winding. We sell all the usual general things you’d expect to find in a neighborhood store. It gets extremely busy around the prayer times because of the masjid being so close. People often pop in for small things they forgot to buy at the bigger markets. We’ve been in this market for many years now. The shop is packed from the floor all the way to the ceiling with stock, so you really have to know exactly where every single item is hidden. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the small inventory items. We don't use a computer system or anything modern like that; it's all written down in our old notebooks. The neighbors here are all very friendly, and we usually share some tea or snacks in the slow part of the afternoon. It’s a simple life running a general store in this part of the city. We don't try to be anything fancy. We just open up early in the morning, sweep the dust from the front, and wait for our first customers of the day. It’s often noisy and crowded outside, but it feels like home to us.
