Prakash Rice Store

The store is in Ward No 8, which is a quiet part of Village Adampur. Most people know us because we sit right near the police station. It makes it easy to find us if you are coming from the main road or heading toward Post Office Naubatpur. We spend most of our mornings getting things ready. Rice is heavy work, but it keeps us busy. My family has been around here for a while. We don't have a fancy setup. It is just a regular shop with sacks of grain everywhere. Sometimes the dust from the road comes in, so we are always cleaning up. The police officers from next door stop by sometimes just to say hello. It is a small community in Adampur, so everybody knows everyone else's business anyway. We open up early because that’s when the light is good. In the monsoon, the rain hits the roof pretty hard and it gets a bit loud inside. We just keep working through it. There isn't much to say about us other than we are here every day. If you pass by the police station, you will see our sign. We try to keep the place organized, though it is hard with so many deliveries coming in and out. It’s just how things go in a village store like this. We like being part of Ward No 8. It feels like home to us.
