We are based out of Village Ziradin in the Siwan district. Most people here know the place because of its history. Our office is at Manoj Kumar Singh’s house. It’s a simple setup because we spend most of our time out with the farmers anyway. Dr R Prasad Organic Agriculture Producercompany Limited is really just a bunch of us trying to do agriculture a bit differently. We focus on organic methods because the soil in Siwan has seen a lot over the years and needs better care. We don't have a big polished office or anything like that. We meet under the trees or in the courtyard to discuss the next planting season. There is a lot of talk about compost and natural ways to keep pests away. It’s hard work and doesn’t always pay off immediately. Sometimes the rain doesn’t come when it should, or the market prices are low, and we have to figure out how to manage. We aren’t experts with fancy degrees, just people who have grown up around farms and want to see things improve. We handle the paperwork for the producer company right here in the village. It’s a local effort, and we know everyone by name. We just want to keep the farming tradition alive while moving away from chemicals that we think aren't good for the long run. It is a quiet life here in Ziradin, and we are fine with that.
