Ambadevi Food Flower Mill Private

Our flour mill is over in Sarangpur-Tola, within the Awahriya panchayat. Manish Kumar and the rest of us run the place right here in the village. It’s a loud spot during the day because the machines are always running, grinding down the grain into flour. You can usually hear us from a few houses away. The air always has a bit of dust in it, which is just part of the job. We don’t have any fancy front desk or computers. Most people just walk right in when they see the doors are open. We spend a lot of our time hauling heavy sacks around or cleaning out the equipment so it doesn't get jammed up. It’s hard on the back, but we’re used to it. The village is quiet otherwise, with a lot of green fields around us. In the summer, it gets really hot inside the mill, so we try to get most of the heavy work done early in the morning. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck on the dirt roads if the weather has been bad, so we have to help push it out or wait for the ground to dry up. We’ve all grown up in this area, so we know everyone who comes by. We just take things one day at a time, making sure the grain is processed right and the bags are filled properly before we close up for the evening.
