Jindal Steel & Power Limited

Our office is tucked away in Ashutosh Nagar, over in the Kuikota area of Medinipur. It’s a bit of a distance from the main hubs, but it’s where we manage the West Bengal interests for Jindal Steel & Power Limited. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, which is a nice change from the loud industrial sites we usually deal with. We focus on the regional logistics and making sure the steel shipments are heading to the right distributors. There is a lot of coordination involved with the railway and the local transport companies. We spend our days tracking shipments on the screen and talking to the guys at the loading docks. It’s basic, hard-working stuff. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone trying to sell you something you don't need. We just facilitate the movement of metal and power equipment. The office is small and filled with files, maps, and coffee mugs. Sometimes the local power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we always get back to it. Working in Paschim Medinipur means we are close to the ground, seeing how the materials actually get used in local building projects. It’s a good feeling to see a bridge or a factory go up knowing we helped get the steel there. We take our time with the details because that is what keeps everything running smoothly. The local tea stall nearby is our usual meeting spot.
