Steel Authority Of India Ltd. (D.S.P)

This branch is located right in the middle of Kajoragram village. It’s part of the Burdwan district here in West Bengal. Most of the people working here are locals who have been around the steel industry for years. We aren't fancy people. Our office is a simple place where we track the shipments and manage the local supply chain for the D.S.P. side of things. It gets quite loud sometimes because of the proximity to the main transport routes. We see a lot of trucks coming through this village every single day. The office floor is usually covered in some bit of red soil from outside, no matter how much we sweep it. We deal with a lot of different people, from truck drivers to project managers. It’s a lot of talking and making sure everyone is on the same page regarding the steel. We don't have a lobby with magazines or anything like that. Just a few wooden benches and the main counter where we do the business. Some days the humidity makes everything feel slower, but the work doesn't stop. We've got a routine that works for us. It’s about getting the steel out of the yard and onto the trucks. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t need a map to find our way around the back alleys of Kajoragram. It’s just home for us and our work. We just try to get the orders right and keep everyone moving along.
