You can find us at Hillside Apartments, specifically Block A-O-5, over in the Fontainhas area of Panaji. If you know Panaji, you know Fontainhas is that old Latin Quarter with all the bright colors and narrow streets. Our office for Alcon Victor Group is right in the middle of that atmosphere. It’s a bit different than working in a big industrial park. We have the apartment converted into a space where we can sit and go through our daily lists. The stairs up to the block are familiar to all of us now, and we’ve gotten used to the way the light hits the hillside in the late afternoon. It’s a quiet enough spot most of the time, though you can hear the occasional scooter zipping through the lanes below. We spend our hours mostly on the phone or typing away at the computers. There isn’t a formal reception desk or a person in a suit waiting to greet people. Usually, someone just looks up from their desk and says hello. We keep things pretty relaxed in terms of how the office runs, but we stay busy. Dealing with whatever tasks come our way is just part of the life here. Sometimes we take a break and walk down the street to clear our heads. It’s a nice place to be based, and it feels more like a community than a corporate headquarters.
