Natraj Hair Saloon

Natraj Hair Saloon is over at the Radhika Shopping Center near Damaji Chowk. It’s right in the middle of Mangalvedha. The shop isn't anything too fancy, just a few chairs and the usual tools. I’ve been here in Solapur district for quite some time now. Most mornings I’m here early to get everything ready before the first customer shows up. The shop gets a bit dusty because of the road outside, so I spend a lot of time wiping things down. It’s a small town, so everyone knows everyone else. When someone walks in, we usually talk about the crops or the local market prices. I don’t use any of those expensive products, just simple soap and water and the stuff I’ve always used. The scissors need sharpening every now and then, which I do myself. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait or work by the door where there’s light. It doesn’t bother people much. They’re used to it. I like the routine of it all. Shaving someone’s beard takes a steady hand, and I take my time with it. It’s honest work. I don't have a big team, just a nephew who helps out when it gets busy. We just keep things moving along until it is time to close up and go home for dinner. It's a quiet life here in Manglvedha.
