Punaram Prajapat

Out here in Desuri, things move a bit slower. Punaram Prajapat is the name on the papers, but mostly people just know where to find the shop. It is a simple place. We don't have a fancy address with a lot of numbers, just Desuri. The building is old, made of stone and plaster that sometimes flakes off when the weather changes. Inside, the space is divided by a few wooden partitions. There is a lot of natural light coming in from the open doorway. We spend most of the day sitting on the stools or the floor depending on what needs doing. The street outside is mostly dirt and gravel, so there’s always a bit of a breeze blowing through. We have a few cupboards for keeping things organized, but they are pretty old. You can hear the goats and the occasional tractor passing by. It’s a quiet life for the most part. Neighbors stop by to chat about the rain or the crops. We don't have a computer or anything like that. We do everything by hand and keep records in a big ledger book. Sometimes the ink smudges if the humidity is high. It’s just the way we've always done things. It suits the pace of the town. There is a tree just outside that provides a bit of shade in the heat of the afternoon, which is nice for a break. We stay open as long as there is light.
