Moksh Plaza is right where everyone gathers, near Mahadev Chat in Pratap Bazar. If you know Rani, you know this spot. The smell of the street food hits you every afternoon right when you start getting hungry. It’s a bit of a landmark for people coming into the bazar. The plaza itself has been here for years. It’s a mix of shops and people always moving through. I spend most of my time around the entrance or checking on things in the back. It’s a lot of walking on those hard floors. You see the same faces every day, from the shopkeepers next door to the regular customers who come for their snacks and then wander in. Pratap Bazar is always noisy, especially on the weekends when it feels like the whole town is here. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a building where people do business. The paint is peeling a little in the corners and the stairs are worn down from all the feet. I usually have a plastic chair parked near the front so I can keep an eye on the street. Rani is a small place but it gets hectic around here. We don't have fancy brochures. If someone asks where we are, we just say 'near Mahadev Chat' and they find us. It’s a simple life, really. Just keeping the place open and seeing who walks through the door today.
