Laxmi Narayan Vaishnav

I spend most of my days in Chamber No 17 over on Kachehari Road. If you’ve ever been down that way, you know it’s always packed with people and there is always some kind of commotion going on. My office is tucked away among a bunch of others, and it’s usually filled with the smell of old paper and ink. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by my desk and stacks of files that I keep meaning to organize better. Being Laxmi Narayan Vaishnav in this part of town means I see a lot of different faces every day. Most people are coming in with some kind of legal or administrative headache that they need help sorting out. I don't promise anything impossible, I just look at the facts and see what can be done. It’s tiring work sometimes, especially when the heat picks up and the narrow hallways get stuffy. I’ve been in this chamber for years, and the wooden furniture has the scratches to prove it. I don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings while I’m with someone, it just has to wait. It’s a very hands-on way to work, but I prefer it that way. No corporate talk, no polished speeches, just sitting down and trying to find a solution for whatever problem walked through the door that morning. It’s a busy life on Kachehari Road, but it’s what I know and what I’ve been doing for a long time.
