Being right by the Desuri Bus Stand on Falna Road means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the conductors shouting destinations all day long and the smell of the buses is always hanging around. Our spot is small but it serves the purpose. People often stop in while they are waiting for their ride to arrive or if they have some time to kill between transfers. It gets dusty because of the road being right there, so we are constantly wiping down the counters and the chairs. It’s just me and a couple of others most of the time. We see a lot of faces coming and going from different villages. Some people we know by name because they pass through every week, while others are just strangers looking for directions. The morning starts early before the first bus pulls in. We get the shutters up and maybe have a quick glass of tea while the sun starts hitting the front of the shop. There isn’t much ceremony to what we do. It’s just about being present and handling whatever comes through the door. Sometimes the weather gets really hot and we just move the fan closer to the desk. We’ve been at this location for a good while now and it feels like part of the furniture of the street. It’s a simple life, focused on the daily routine and the people on Falna Road. We don't have any big plans to move.
