Geeta Kanwar

Life here in Sheoganj is pretty steady. Geeta Kanwar is located over in the Chandana area, which most locals know well. It isn't a huge place, just a simple spot where we handle our day-to-day business. The streets around here can get quite dusty, especially when the wind picks up, but that’s just part of living in this part of the country. We don't have any big signs or bright lights to show where we are. It is more of a word-of-mouth type of situation. People just know where to find us when they need something. We spend a lot of time just talking to neighbors and taking care of the small details that keep things running. Our setup is very basic. There’s a table, some chairs, and whatever we happen to be working on that day. It feels like a home as much as a place of work. We don't really follow a strict corporate schedule; we just start when the sun is up and finish when the work is done. Sheoganj has a certain rhythm to it, and we are just a small part of that. Sometimes it is quiet, and other times the whole street is full of noise and people moving about. We like the simplicity of it. It’s just us here, doing what we know how to do. We don't really have a website or anything like that, just our presence here in the neighborhood. It’s worked for us so far. It is a quiet existence but we wouldn't have it any other way.
