Ganshyam Garg

You will find us at Moti Chowk, right in the middle of Sunaro Ka Bass. This part of the city is old and the lanes are narrow, so there is always a lot of noise from the neighbors and the shops nearby. My name is Ganshyam Garg, and I have been working from this spot at number 15 for quite some time. It is a family kind of area, where everyone knows what everyone else is doing. My day is mostly spent talking to people who come in looking for something specific, maybe a bit of jewelry or some metalwork, given where we are located. The shop is small and can get pretty hot in the summer, but we keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes through the alley. I do not have a big team or anything, just a couple of us who handle the daily tasks and make sure the customers are taken care of. We do not go for any of that modern marketing stuff. We just sit here, do our work, and talk to the people who walk by. It is a very traditional way of doing things, I suppose. We have seen the market change over the years, but Moti Chowk still feels the same as it always did. We take things one day at a time, keeping the books and making sure the inventory is right. It is a quiet, steady life in a busy part of town.
