Working right by the Old Bus Stand means we get a lot of people coming in who are in a hurry. They might need a form printed out before their bus leaves or a quick scan of a document to send off for a job. The shop is always a bit noisy because of the buses idling outside and the constant sound of the printers running. We have a row of computers against the wall that have seen a lot of use over the years. The chairs are mismatched, and the mouse pads are a bit worn down, but everything works. We spend a lot of time helping people who aren't very comfortable with computers, showing them how to attach a file to an email or how to use a search engine. The air inside always smells a bit like paper and warm electronics. On slow afternoons, we spend time refilling the ink cartridges or cleaning the glass on the copier. It is a very functional space without any unnecessary decorations. We have a small cooler in the corner with some water, which is nice when it gets really hot in the middle of the day. People often leave their bags near the door while they use the machines, and there is a lot of back-and-forth chatter about bus schedules and the weather. We just keep the place open and ready for whoever needs to use it, trying to keep the lines short and the machines running.
