Ayesha Popular Freelance Makeup Artist

I operate mostly as a freelance makeup artist and I spend a lot of my time around Shakurpur and near Deepali Chowk. It is a pretty hectic area but I have gotten used to the pace of it over the years. Being a freelancer means I don’t have one single big shop where I sit all day. Instead, I am usually on the move with my bags and kits. I do a lot of work for people in their own homes or at different venues around this part of the city. Deepali Chowk is a good landmark because everyone knows it, so it makes meeting up or giving directions a lot easier. My days are never really the same; one morning I might be doing someone’s hair and the next I am focusing on heavy wedding makeup. It can be tiring carrying all the equipment around, especially when the weather is hot or the traffic is bad, but that is just part of the job. I try to keep my kit organized, but by the end of a long day, things usually get a bit messy. People around here seem to know me now, mostly by word of mouth from one neighbor to another. It’s a simple way of working but it keeps me busy enough. I just enjoy the process of seeing how a bit of color can change how someone feels when they look in the mirror before a big event.
