Nazakat Creations

Up on the third floor of the GS Apartment in Rohini Sector 13, that’s where Nazakat Creations is located and where we do our work. It’s a residential area, so it’s much quieter than a big market, which helps when we’re focusing on the small details of a dress. We do a lot of sewing and designing here. The rooms are filled with fabrics of all colors, threads, and half-finished garments hanging on racks against the walls. Sometimes there are scraps of cloth all over the floor by the end of the afternoon, and we have to sweep it all up before going home. We started this because we liked making things by hand, and it just grew into a little business over time. It’s not a huge operation with assembly lines or big machines. It’s just a few of us sitting at our sewing machines or cutting fabric on the big wooden table. We have to be careful with the light because picking the right color thread is really important for the finish. The neighbors know us as the people who are always carrying bundles of clothes up the stairs. The elevator in the building is a bit moody and doesn't always work, so we get our exercise. We don't really have a big sign outside to show where we are. Most people find us through word of mouth or by just knowing we are here in H-24. We spend our days sketching, measuring, and trying to make sure the fit is right for every piece. It’s a slow process sometimes, but we don't rush it just to be done.
