Hide Fashions

Our place is over at Plot No. 22 in Sector-15, Rohini. It’s basically a workshop and a small office space. Hide Fashions isn’t a big brand you’d see in a mall. We mostly deal with leather goods and getting things ready for customers. The floor is usually covered in scraps and there’s always that strong smell of treated leather in the air. It’s a bit noisy with the machines running, but that’s how it goes. We have a few people who have been with us for years. They know exactly how to cut the material without wasting much. Sometimes we get orders that are a bit tricky, and we spend all afternoon trying to figure out the best way to stitch them. It’s not always perfect. Occasionally a machine breaks down or a delivery is late because the roads in Rohini are jammed. We just deal with it. It’s a small operation. There’s no fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a desk with a computer that's a bit slow and a lot of boxes stacked up. We keep busy. Most of our day is spent checking the quality of the hides and making sure things are packed right. It's tiring work, standing on your feet, but it’s what we do. We like the neighborhood. It’s got everything we need close by. If you drop by, you'll probably find us covered in dust or looking at patterns. We try to finish up by six.
