Chadha Store

We are right here in the main market of Rani Bagh, tucked inside the Gurudwara Wali Gali at number 959. Most days start early before the market really gets loud. You can hear the morning prayers from the Gurudwara while we are rolling up the shutters and dusting off the front counter. It gets quite dusty around here with all the traffic and people walking by. There is usually a pile of stuff to sort through every morning. Our shop isn't very big but we make do with the space we have. Sometimes the tea man comes by twice before we even get a chance to sit down. People from the neighborhood stop in mostly to chat or grab what they need for their homes. The fan in the corner makes a clicking sound that we’ve just gotten used to over the years. It is a bit cramped when more than three people stand inside at once. We don't have fancy lights or those big glass windows you see in the malls. It’s just a regular spot where we spend most of our daylight hours. The street gets narrow and crowded by evening, making it hard for scooters to pass. We usually stay until the lights in the lane go dim. It’s a lot of work keeping things organized, but that’s just how it goes in a place like this. We’ve known the families around here for a long time now.
