We’ve been operating out of Pitampura for quite some time now, specifically at 281, Deepali. It’s a busy part of town, which suits us just fine. Barak Valley Cements Ltd. isn't some glass-tower corporation; we're just people working in an office handling the logistics of moving cement from one place to another. The phone rings a lot, mostly people asking about truck schedules or price changes. There’s always a faint smell of paper and maybe a bit of dust, which I guess comes with the territory. My desk is usually covered in sticky notes and old coffee mugs. We have a small team here, and everyone pretty much knows what they’re supposed to do without being told. Sometimes it’s hectic when three trucks are delayed at once, but we manage to sort it out. The Deepali building has its quirks, like the elevator that sometimes takes its own time, but it’s home for us during the work week. We don't have a big reception area with fancy lights. It’s mostly just desks, filing cabinets, and a water cooler where we end up talking about the cricket score or the weather. People think cement is boring, and maybe it is, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. We've been in this spot long enough that the neighbors all know our faces. It is a straightforward job, and we try to keep things moving along without any unnecessary drama. Sometimes it gets a bit loud when everyone is on the phone at once.
