Shah Trading

Our place, Shah Trading, is located in Chipuwa on Mala Yay Road. We are very close to the Jagannath Mandir, so you can usually hear the temple bells from our front door. It’s a quiet enough area until festival times, then the whole road gets packed with people. We handle a lot of different goods here, mostly stuff that comes in from the outlying districts. The building is old, but it stays cool in the summer because of the thick walls. We spend most of our time on the phone or writing down orders in our notebooks. It’s a lot of back and forth with suppliers. Sometimes the trucks get stuck on the narrow road near the temple, which causes a bit of a headache for everyone. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a long time now. My uncle used to run things, and I took over after he retired. We don’t do much advertising; people just know we are here by the Mandir. The floor is a bit uneven, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it works for what we need. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for shipments to arrive. It’s steady work. We aren't trying to be the biggest trader in the city, just trying to keep the business running smoothly and fairly for the people we deal with every day.
