We’ve been running the shop here at Bhajanpura Gali No 16 for quite some time now. If you come down to C/354-A, you’ll see us working on the steel sheets right at the front. It gets pretty loud with all the hammering and the metal cutters going all day long, but that’s just how the work is. Most people in the neighborhood know us because we’ve been around so long. We make the standard almirahs and sometimes people ask for specific sizes to fit in their rooms. The paint takes a while to dry when the weather is humid, so we usually have a few pieces just sitting around waiting. It’s not a fancy place, just a workshop with a lot of heavy iron and tools lying on the floor. My brother and I manage most of the things ourselves. Sometimes the delivery truck can't even get into the narrow lane, so we have to carry the cupboards out to the main road by hand. It’s a lot of lifting, but we’re used to it by now. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a desk in the corner with some old ledgers. People stop by to check on their orders or just to chat while we’re welding. We try to finish things on time but sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait. That’s just life here.
