Setmi India

If you ever go down to Old Lajpat Rai Market, you know how crowded it gets, especially being right there opposite the Red Fort. Our shop, Setmi India, is at number 167. It is a busy spot. We spend the whole day dealing with parts and customers coming in asking for all sorts of things. The market has its own rhythm and you just have to get used to the noise and the constant movement of people. We have been here for a good amount of time now. The shelves are usually packed with stock because you never know what someone might need. It is a bit dusty sometimes, but that’s the reality of working in an old market area like this. We don't really do much fancy stuff, just handle the daily sales and talk to the people who stop by. Sometimes people get lost trying to find us among all the other shops, but once they see the sign near the fort side, they get there eventually. It is a lot of work keeping track of everything, but we manage. We aren't trying to be anything we are not. We just open the shop, do the work, and head home when the shutters go down. It’s honest work and it keeps us on our feet. The heat in the summer can be tough in this part of Delhi, but we have a small fan and plenty of water to get through the long afternoons.
