S G R Mushrooms

S G R Mushrooms is located in East Moti Bagh, over in the Sarai Rohella part of Delhi. We work out of a space at 118F/4. Growing mushrooms is a bit different from other types of farming because you have to be so careful with the temperature and the dampness. It’s a lot of monitoring and checking the beds at odd hours. We aren't a massive industrial plant; we are more of a local operation that pays close attention to how the crop is doing. The area around Sarai Rohella is pretty active, so there is always noise outside, but inside we keep things quiet for the mushrooms to grow right. We mostly sell to local markets and people who know where we are. It’s not a glamorous job. We spend a lot of time in the dark or under dim lights, making sure the compost is right and the spores are taking hold. Sometimes the weather in Delhi makes it tricky, especially when it gets really hot, but we’ve figured out ways to manage over the years. We started this because we saw a need for good mushrooms in the city. It’s just a small team of us here. We don’t spend money on fancy advertisements or anything like that. We just focus on the bags and the trays in our rooms and try to make sure every harvest is as good as the last one. It’s hard work, but we like seeing the crop come in.
