National Agencies

Our small spot is at number 4 in the Mahalaxmi Market part of Bhagirath Palace. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know it’s like a maze of wires and shops. National Agencies is just one of many, but we’ve been here long enough that the tea stall guy knows exactly how we like our morning cups. We don't have a lot of room, so we have to stack things pretty high up to the ceiling. It’s a lot of climbing ladders and checking labels under dim lights. The street outside is always packed with rickshaws and people carrying heavy crates on their heads. It gets a bit chaotic, especially on Mondays, but that’s just how this part of Delhi functions. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or expensive furniture because it wouldn't last a week in this dust. We just focus on getting the right products to our customers who come in from all over. Sometimes a customer will sit for an hour just to talk while we find what they need. We aren’t trying to be the biggest or the flashiest. We just want to make sure the books balance at the end of the month and the orders go out correct. It's a crowded, noisy, and very real way to spend the day. You learn to work with the noise and the heat, and somehow, everything manages to get done by the time we lock up the shutters and head home for the evening.
