Ss Engineering Works

If you’re down by Kashmere Gate, you might have passed the United Complex. Our workshop, Ss Engineering Works, is at G13-1/142. It’s a gritty part of town, full of grease and the sound of metal hitting metal. We don't have a front desk or a lobby. You just walk in and there’s the sound of the lathe machines and the smell of cutting oil. It’s a messy place, but we know where every tool is kept. Most of the guys here have grease under their fingernails and a rag in their back pocket. We take on all sorts of mechanical repairs and fabrication jobs. Sometimes it’s a small part for a car, other times it’s something much bigger. We don't spend much on furniture or decor; the money goes back into the machines and the tools we use. The complex itself is always busy, with trucks loading and unloading right in the middle of the path. It can be a bit of a headache to get to us during peak hours. We’ve been at this for years, and we don't plan on changing much. We just show up, do the work, and hope the machines don't break down on us. It’s a tough environment, but it’s what we know. We aren't looking for awards, just more work to keep the shop going. Sometimes the oil spills on the floor and we have to put down sawdust to keep from slipping. We finish our shifts covered in dust, but it feels like we actually accomplished something.
