Golden Machinery Store Co.

Our shop is in the Taj Building, which is No. 61 on G.B. Road. This street is famous for machinery and hardware, and we’ve been a part of it for a very long time. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of grease and metal. We have shelves stacked high with all sorts of parts, tools, and equipment. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes, and only we really know where the specific items are hidden in the back. The Taj Building has a lot of character, though it shows its age in the corners and the staircases. We spend our days talking to customers who come in looking for very specific bits of machinery. Sometimes we have to dig through old crates to find exactly what they need. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We don’t have air conditioning, so the big doors stay open to the street, letting in all the noise of the traffic and the shouting of the vendors. Our counter is worn smooth from years of use. We write out our bills by hand and keep a ledger for the important stuff. It’s a simple way of doing business that hasn't changed much since we started. We don't have fancy displays or bright lights. We just have the machines and the knowledge of how they work. It’s a long day, but we like the pace of it.
