About National Horticultural Mission – Agriculture & Farming in North 24 Parganas
We are located in Village Subhashgarm, which is under the Kakdwip post office and police station jurisdiction. It’s quite a way out from the big city noise. Being the National Horticultural Mission here means we spend a lot of time thinking about the soil and the plants. The air is different here than in the town. We have a lot of space around us, which is lucky. It isn't a fancy glass building; it’s more of a practical place where people from the village come by to talk about their crops. We have plenty of muddy boots by the door most days. The office is often full of maps and charts about the local land. It can get very quiet in the middle of the day when the sun is high. We don't have a lot of fancy technology, just what we need to keep the records straight. There’s a lot of walking involved in what we do. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy after it rains, but everyone knows the way. We’ve got a small team that knows the local area inside out. It’s not a corporate setup at all; it’s more about the ground and what grows in it. People stop by for advice or just to see what’s happening with the new seedlings. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the paperwork piles up on the big wooden desk.
