Bimala Jute Center

Bimala Jute Center is out in Simulpur, which is part of Thakurnagar in the Gaighata area. We are surrounded by a lot of greenery and it is much quieter here than in the big cities. We work almost exclusively with jute, which is a big part of the local economy around here. We get the raw fibers and then we process them or turn them into bags and other simple things. It is dusty work and you definitely smell the jute as soon as you walk in. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We have known each other for years. The way we do things has not changed much over time. We still use a lot of the same old methods because they work fine for what we need. We do not have a website or anything like that, we just rely on people knowing where we are in Simulpur. Sometimes the transport trucks take a while to reach us because the roads out here are not always the best, especially after the monsoon. But we are not in a huge rush. We just focus on getting the jute handled properly and making sure the quality is okay for the local markets. It is honest work that involves a lot of hands-on effort. We take pride in what we do without making a big deal out of it.
