Shivam Retail'S

Working at Shivam Retail’S inside the Great India Palace can be quite a long day. We are up on the first floor at FF 169, which is right across from Ocean Plaza. The mall has its own climate, so you forget if it’s raining or sunny outside until you leave. The shop is a good size, and we’ve filled every inch of it with whatever we’re selling at the moment. It’s a lot of walking back and forth on the hard floor, so we all wear comfortable shoes. On weekends, the noise from the atrium can get pretty loud with music and kids playing, but we’ve gotten used to it. We spend our mornings checking the tags and making sure the displays aren’t too lopsided. It’s a different vibe than a street market because everything is more controlled. We have to follow the mall’s rules about when to open and close, so there’s not much room for being late. Sometimes we take turns going to the food court for a quick bite, but mostly we just eat in the small storage area we have in the back. It’s a lot of folding and re-hanging items after the crowds go through. By the time the mall starts shutting down, we’re usually pretty tired and ready to head back to Sector 38. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us on our toes.
